Behind the Lens: Videographer Spotlight (Gino)

When did you start photography and/or videography?

I started videography when I was in university back in 2006

What inspired you to begin the art of photography and/or videography?

We had a class project and we were asked to make a short film. I ended up directing that video and it was a success when we premiered it. I never looked back since. Making videos became my lifestyle.

What is your favorite type of videography when you aren’t shooting weddings?

My favorite type of video content when not working is doing lifestyle travel videos. I keep a personal stash of video diaries from my wife and I travel experiences.

What is the most memorable moment working with ATOS?

The most memorable moment while working with ATOS was getting to do lead shooting for the company. I especially loved the experience when I shot for ATOS and the location was Huntington Beach. I was able to show ATOS how I tell my wedding stories.

How is life with COVID?

Its been alright. Right because I have the luxury of time and creative space. Alright because of course I can help but think about people who dont have aid like us. So I try to make solid use of my days so I can live life to the fullest for those who cannot.

What hobbies are you into now with home-isolation?

I've been doing some juggling with balls. I learned to do it during Covid. I also put a lot of time into my balance board and a lot of time doing yoga and meditation.

What will the first outing be for you when the stay-at home order is lifted?

Surf San Onofre all day :)

What inspired you to begin the art of photography and/or videography?

While working in the TV studio, I was introduced to the wedding industry and fell in love with it right away. It’s a day full of love and romance, celebration and excitement, and I really enjoyed capturing and narrating the emotion through camera lens

Selfie?! Events and Travel photo/video.

What is the most memorable moment working with ATOS?

How is life with COVID?

Crazy busy working from home with 2 precious little monsters and a husband. Behind the Lens: Photographer Spotlight (Rodel)

When did you start photography and/or videography?

Around 2005, when my wife bought me my first camera which was a Nikon D200 and asked some friends if they wanted some pictures.

What inspired you to begin the art of photography and/or videography?

When I joined filipino club in college and was on cabinet to document events other than a point and shoot camera. Also, there was a professional photographer I met, who currently works with the Hollywood press, taking our filipino club’s hip hop dance teams portraits and I was intrigued to learn how clean the photographers images were. My first mentor, my college friend invited me to attend a 1 hour speaker event in Burbank and totally inspired me with things he learned and shared thru his decades of years of portrait and wedding photography.

What is your favorite type of photography when you aren’t shooting weddings?

Travel photography, fashion photography, food photography: all casual.

What is the most memorable moment working with ATOS?

Every moment with ATOS is good cause I learn at least one thing, one new idea, from each other, whether it’s casual, business, photo or video skill.

How is life with COVID?

Hard to stay at home when you are on the go or have daily routines that involve commuting. Life is battling cobwebs on the ceiling and dust bugs in and around the floor corners. Also, my wife and I start our cars every morning and go for a quick run while the engine parts are kept working and not idle in the garage. Otherwise, we have food and grocery delivery and don’t go out unless necessary.

What hobbies are you into now with home-isolation?

Dusted off the old Super Nintendo and play old school video games cause I’m too old for these advanced consoles. Other than that, its mostly taking out the trash, sweeping the inside and outside floors, watching news on occasion, and organizing and reorganizing parts of the house.

What will the first outing be for you when the stay-at-home order is lifted?

My wife and I are missing All you can eat sushi and Korean BBQ!

Behind the Lens, Vendor Spotlight: Wilson Creek Winery (Jenae Keys)

Wilson Creek Winery - Jenae Keys

Tell us a little bit about Wilson Creek Winery. How long has it been around?

Wilson Creek Winery is a family-owned and operated winery, vineyard, and event venue in Temecula, CA. We are most famous for our Almond Sparkling Wine, and we are also well known for our other award winning still wines, incredible Sunday brunch, weddings/events, concerts, and our amazing hospitality that we take so much pride in. Our venue has a little bit of everything to appeal to the masses!

Tell us a little bit about you. How long have you been working in the industry?  How long have you worked at Wilson Creek?

My name is Jenae, and I am the Assistant Director of Sales & Catering. I have been in the hospitality industry since I was 15 years old, so 13 years. I have been with Wilson Creek Winery for 4 years and couldn’t be happier!

What is your favorite part of your daily activities at your workplace?

My favorite part is interacting with our amazing team. We are definitely a family here, and I am so thankful for each and every one of them. It is also amazing doing site tours and showing off the venue, our team, and of course the Wilsons when they are our wandering about with their dogs.

What is your most memorable moment working at / with your workplace?

The most memorable moment working at Wilson Creek (and actually of all time) is when I got a call from a panicked bride who had just lost her venue the day prior to her wedding in the Malibu fire back in November 2018. We were able to secure staff, a full plated dinner, and of course the venue for 260 people in a day’s notice (on a holiday weekend) to make the wedding of their dreams happen. The majority of their guests flew in from Portugal, so it wasn’t like they had a chance to postpone it. We needed to make it happen, and it needed to be fast! It was truly incredible, and I still get emotional thinking about that day. It is something I will remember for the rest of my life and I am so thankful to have been a part of it.

How is life with COVID as it pertains to your company / venue?

I’m not going to lie, it has been rough! We have lost a lot of business of course, but we are so lucky to have so many people who care and support us during these times. We are currently open for to-go food orders Wednesday-Sunday as well as curbside wine pickups. People can also still purchase our wines in major stores across the US, so that is definitely helping us to stay afloat during these unprecedented times. We can’t wait to welcome back our entire team once this is all over.

What hobbies are you into now with home-isolation?

Is drinking a good answer? Haha! Honestly, we are just soaking up all this extra time we get to spend with our almost 2-year-old, Liam. He is constantly bouncing off the walls, so we need to keep coming up with new ways to keep him entertained! We, of course, have been able to tackle some home projects as well!

What will the first outing be for you when the stay-at-home order is lifted?

Hmmmm, well we would first and foremost plan a large family get together! Liam misses his grandparents and the rest of the family so much. But besides that, I would probably have to say SeaWorld! We have season passes, and Liam has been asking to go since this whole thing started. He will be so happy to see the sharks and dolphins again!

5 Reasons Why Professional Family Portraits Are Important

5 Reasons Why Professional Family Portraits Are Important

Someone once said - A Photograph is the pause button of life.  A Touch of Soul Productions couldn’t agree more!

Why then, do we tend to dread the yearly tradition of taking family photos?  Is it the daunting task of getting everyone together? The stress of figuring out what to wear?  Finding the time? We get it! But, we also are here to tell you that it’s all worth it!! Press that pause button at least once a year!  Leave it up to the professionals to guide you up to and through the session. Those memories? They’ll be captured forever.

Here are 5 reasons we think having professional family portraits taken are so important:

  • They’re important for kids’ emotional development.  Having a family photo serves as a reminder for our children about the importance of the family unit. It boosts their self esteem, documents their growth, and serves as a reminder of the importance of family values.

  • They eliminate the stress of taking your own photos. Leave it up to the pros!  We all have countless photos on our phones. But there's something special about relaxing and letting a professional do their thing.  Even if you have squirmy wiggle-worm kiddos! Some of the candid images captured during will be the ones you cherish most!

  • They provide beautiful art for your home.  A family portrait canvas hanging above your couch or fireplace sets the tone in your home. The most beautiful canvas in the world is the one featuring your most precious works of art!

  • They serve as a tradition.  Whether it’s the annual Holiday photo shoot, or the casual session on the beach - it’s always fun to look forward to dressing up, hanging out, and having some gorgeous memories to take away from the day!

  • They document changes!  Remember that one year that your son grew 4 inches?  Documented! Remember when you had red hair? Uggh. Documented!  =) Two front teeth missing? All documented. What a fun thing to have - for current AND future generations!
